"Gantz!" follows the death, and therefore new life, of a high school senior who is killed by a train as he is forced to help a homeless man who has fallen on the tracks. Just after his death he is transported into a room and a large mysterious black ball (containing a man on life support) tells him he needs to kill "aliens" as to continue living.

- Masaru Kato = The sub main character who always tries to be the protector while retaining the sanctity of life.

- Kei Kishimoto = The sexual interest who relies on others for protection.
