[edit] Main page

i think the main page can look better, so this is what i came up with, what do you think Random123 02:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

moved to Main Page/1.
Hmmm... Anime Wiki should be Animepedia. ({{animeNetwork|anime|name}} will give a correct output.) But as for the content. I haven't messed with the Main Page yet because I need to organize content before that can be done. There are a number of sections which need adding. And things that need removing. Dantman (Talk) 02:52, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Take a look at Main Page/2, also have you reset your cache yet so you can see the new layout I made? I can tell you what pages to refresh at if you're using Opera. If you're using Firefox just hit CTRL + R. Also, go to Media:Wiki.png and reload it. I made a transparency fix for it. Dantman (Talk) 04:56, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Are you the only editor? Why does the Narutopedia, a wiki on a narrow subject, have more users than this, Animepedia, which is much more broad in comparision? Random123 23:41, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] vandal?

im sorry bout that! It was just that i heard if an artical doesnt have good info it is to be removed!--Lolicon 16:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey there

I apologize for the late reply. My name is Burdock, the Saiyan. The reason why I need a Template:Tracking category for the Dragon Ball wikia is that, I believe, it may enable templates or categories correctly here when the content is copied from Wikipedia. Meaning, it gets up screwed up when I don't have a wikimedia category or template made. Do you see what I mean? I need it to look, work, and be made just like this one from Wikipedia. I'm still new at this template/categorization stuff, since I never created an account before this one. When I edited Wikipedia, I learned of a lot of things there such as rules and policies, as well as how to write an encyclopedic article. I used to edit there as a IP user. I noticed the Dragon Ball articles there where really screwed up and I decided to work here instead of Wikipedia to fix things up. I'm currently busy here at home, but I manage to go on Dragon Ball wikia from time to time. I am very interested in being an administrator in the Dragon Ball wikia also. I noticed that there are a lot of articles that are "worthless" and should be deleted. Can you set up a board or something there so that administrators can be elected? It would be greatly appreciated and I shall dedicate myself to make sure those DB articles are: formatted correctly, encyclopedic, and very well detailed to the bone, with notes and references. About your "bots" for the Talkheader template, I would greatly appreciate it also if it helps to fix all articles (I'm not even sure how they work exactly, are they really automated users or something else?) In conclusion, Anything you can do to help set an administrator board, bots and template fixes is much appreciated. Regards - Burdock (P.S. - respond to me there at DB wikia if you have anything else you can teach me or whatever, thanks!)

I understand now (somewhat) about how the bot works, I don't understand what you said about the administration election, though. What did you mean by "sysp"? Is there a test I have to take or something? Regards - Burdock
Sure. I'll take whatever you can give me (I'll do anything!!!) Perhaps, I should just continue what I'm doing, editing and all, and wait for like a year before deciding to plan for admin, right? Oh well, ... its just that I really wish someone would administer the Dragon Ball wiki and delete a lot of the "worthless" articles there like Category:Frieza henchmen and Denda (the characters' name is always mentioned as "Dende", so Denda should be deleted and not redirected since its not even close to being a redirect) Just stuff like that I wish I could fix, but whatever works I guess. Regards - Burdock
Hi, it's Burdock, thanks for your message. I'm not quite sure what you want me to do. I read the forum, but what is it saying really? The only user I keep in touch with is Wildyoda, since I don't really know any of the other users on the DB wikia. Regards - Burdock
So, what's up? Anything new for the Dragon Ball wikia as of yet? Anything I can do to help? Regards - Burdock
Thanks for the message. Let me try to understand this - do I, Wildyoda and others have to sign up and leave a comment or something at Promoting an Administrator or Joining the WAP? This is what I don't get. Should we notify the WikiProject Dragon Ball members at Wikipedia? Regards - Burdock
Alrighty, I posted the same messages at the two. It seems you want a merger of templates and bots from Anime wikia to Dragon Ball wikia to take place, correct? I definitely agree with you on that. Let me just work on a certain article and I'll get back to notifying other users to share their thoughts. Thanks! Burdock

[edit] ZZZ....ZZZ...ZZZZZ

Hi there im just wondering IS ANYBODY ON THIS SITE ANYMORE!!! DAMN IT MAN I HAVENT SEEN AN EDIT EVER!!! Please respond(if there) KANPAI!!!--KANPAI!!! 16:30, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Well ok sorry bout that! I will help ya! Keep up the good work!....by the way what is Animepedia? Is it this? --KANPAI!!! 16:15, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] It's been awhile...

'Tis I, Burdock, and I've posted a message on the main page of the Dragon Ball Wikia concerning the possible election of an administration board. Anything else you might wanna announce or fix to the page? Regards - Burdock, the father of Goku

I was under the impression that the message being in bold would attract more users' attention, what do you think? Was it standing out too much? Burdock

[edit] Switchbox

Hello, I'm Yunzhong Hou, bureaucrat at Novelas wikia. I came here to see your switchbox, and am amazed by it. Could you install a similar version of it onto Novelas? Thanks!

(Please reply at my user page, since I'm most active there.)

Yunzhong Hou 22:45, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

PS. Those recent changes mods are cool also!

I read your reply at Novelas and I can only say that it sounds amazing! I would be delighted to see them in action on the site, and towards that end I have changed your group membership to sysop so that you can make the relevant changes. I suppose that after a while I'll be able to figure out what changes you made, and so I only request that you upload the variety of changes you mentioned on my talk page.

Thanks again! Template:YZH01:25, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Working with the switchbox, it seems that the Pageindex function doesn't work (whatever it does) (and especially those radio buttons), and clicking on any of them twice makes the search box vanish. Could you perhaps trouble shoot this? I believe that these bugs exist on the anime wiki (here) as well. Thanks! Yunzhong Hou 20:55, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

It still seems to be not working, on both counts mentioned above. I'm using microsoft internet explorer. Hope that helps! Yunzhong Hou 23:00, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

I feel so much like a newbie working with this java coding. I added 3 lines of code and now the whole thing doesn't show up. I guess it'll probably be better just to ask for a few changes, rather than trying to do them myself... I know this could be quite challenging, but nevertheless I believe that you could succeed in making these changes:

  1. I would like to have both a "search" functionality and a "create" functionality in the "article" switchbox form, alongside the existing "view" and "edit" functionalities.
    1. The search functionality, as in the results from the normal search engine;
    2. The create functionality, which jumps to create-page if the page doesn't exist; and
  2. Also in the article switchbox form, could you add a dropdown list to choose the various namespaces we want?

Thanks in advance! --Yunzhong Hou 02:01, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Enployment!!!

Hi, i wana be an admn. for this wiki project!!! Can you please allow me to?--saikano 17:44, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Er, no! I don't have much influence on Anime wiki but i can tell that Lolicon can benefit from having a lot more experience working on this site. So far he has made only 1 edit to non-talk pages, and that was to blank the page; the rest are mostly edits to User talk:Lolicon. Some helping out with the project would definitely be more meaningful and also increase Lolicon's chances of success. (Sorry, I just had to get involved.) --Yunzhong Hou20:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, lolicon did make 2 other edits. You just can't see them because they're hidden in the deleted history. It's one of those cases where a user tries to help contribute, makes a newbie mistake in how they are trying to do it (Not attributing, placing pages in locations where other things are actually supposed to go) and then I end up building it the way it's supposed to be done as a demonstration on how to actually do something. I believe the reason for deletion in those 2 cases was because the intended positive edits unfortunately included unattributed Wikipedia content (also in the wrong location) which I deleted to keep away from GFDL violations, then made the edits in a proper way to show the user how it's normally done.
You just can't see those edits because they are in the deleted revisions for various reasons. That's why I'm still giving Lolicon the benefit of the doubt over various negative things such as 2 negative forum threads which were deleted because of the subject, the blanking of an article (Which was a beginners mistake, I informed that articles aren't blanked because the content is unsubstantial, they are improved), and the contents of that userpage. ~Dantman(talk) Apr 24, 2007 @ 22:41 (UTC)

[edit] Dragon Ball names

I lefted a message at [1] in regards to which names we should go by on Dragon Ball wikia. Fellow Saiyan - Burdock

Thanks for understanding about the names. Naruto is about a ninja anime/manga, right? When you use Naruto as an example for things, I get so lost. Do you like Dragon Ball, or watched it at least? I've seen some of InuYasha and know little about it too. Maybe I'll buy the InuYasha Ani-Manga someday, though I'm more interested in Toriyama's work. Love it! Is there anything you wanna know about Dragon Ball? I know so much, I've been a fan ever since I watched the show as a kid. Burdock
If you watched the Dragon Ball anime series in Canada, then you saw the Ocean Group dub on YTV. If you saw the Dragon Ball anime series in North America, between the years of 1998-2003, then it was the dub by FUNimation Productions on Cartoon Network. I live in the U.S., so I've seen all of the FUNimation dub (before I bought most of their uncut DVDs on eBay) and researched about its' popularity in Canada. Fellow Saiyan - Burdock

[edit] sorry!

I really hope I havent been a pain to you! If I am Im sorry and Ill will make it so that never happens again! Im just getting to know the site!--saikano 16:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Great!

Now all we need is Angela and some1 else to cast their thoughts and, if I understood correctly, a "Saiyan Hierarchy" shall be built? I shall strive for Super Saiyan success then! ;) - Burdock, the Saiyan

Was the flag problem fixed? Is there anything I can do? Burdock
I just received your message. Keep me up to date on what's happening on the DB wikia and let me know when you get those userboxes, k? Suddenly I've been editing the English Wikipedia with an account I didn't plan on using, so I'm not editing the wikia as much as before. +_+ — Burdock, the Saiyan

[edit] A vandal?

As innapropiate as all this sounds, no offense, but don't you think you're being a bit harsh to the new user? It was probably just a joke (a very uncalled one at that), but listen: in the beginning I had a similar problem with Recoome on the DB wikia when I explained about not using the dub names. He just didn't like the rules and then did the changes such as Kiwi to Cui, Freeza to Frieza, etc., and I had to revert him, etc.; eventually, he agreed with the rules as I was finally able to convince him. Not once did I call him a vandal for it though. I know that it may be very irritating to correct those edits, but calling one a vandal for them may tend to provoke the user and really cause the person to vandalize. I do understand, however, if it was for those two unpleasant remarks, but as a sysops, can't you just change the phrases to say something else? Burdock

I just read your message... and Zarbon's. I honestly can't believe he did something so stupid. I thought the user would have lefted the wiki or something but it appears he returned in an attempt to mess things up. Why didn't you ban Prince Zarbon (and the IP) instead of blocking? Aren't blocks temporary? Burdock, the Saiyan

[edit] Re:WGEP

In the interest of keeping the discussion in one place, I've responded directly on my own talk page on the AliceSoftWiki. w:c:AliceSoft:User talk:Afker. -Afker 21:45, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WGEP and Nipponster Japan Project

Hi Dantman, One of the main goals of the Japan Project is organise people to contribute to Japan-related websites and wiki-projects, etc. So my idea is basically that as things get rolling with the project, we can send interested ones over to the WGEP to help out. Let me know what you think and any ideas you might have about the project. thanks, Toritaiyo 18:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Also, I added WGEP to Japan-related websites directory. It's here Toritaiyo 19:16, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AJAX help

Can you help me with some AJAX? I wrote a javascript to customize the interface on w:c:Gaming. It works on IE and Firefox, but on Opera things gets messed up. I think Opera is parsing the XMLHttpRequest using the wrong encoding, but I can't figure out how to fix it. The javascript is at w:c:Gaming:User:Afker/CustomLinks.js. I load it from User:Afker/Games.js, and it also uses some custom styles in User:Afker/Games.css. Thanks. -Afker 20:31, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Switchbox fixes

I've fixed the IE issue where you click on any of the switches a second time, it disappears entirely. I've also moved the switches down, into the same div as the Search box, so that it's more appearant that they are related. Some CSS-ing would be needed to cleanup the looks, but I'm just working on functionality right now.

Radio-button issue isn't fixed, because I didn't touch the switchform class at all.

The code is restructured to be more modular. I've introduced a "switcher" class that handles the actual switching, this makes any addition of new switches relatively simple.

I'm working on a DropDown switcher. It works perfectly on Firefox and Opera, but things get a little weird with IE. The code is at w:c:AliceSoft:User:Afker/Searchswitch.js. If you don't like the placement of the new switchbox, it is very trivial to move it back to your old position while not affecting my fixes of the code.-Afker 03:57, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] For/Against....ME?

Ok...let me see...

  • I may have the wrong def. of forum(I never had a def.) but MY fourms are Questionable how?

So I ran over to them along the way found a sewage lid grabed it and as hard as i could SLAPED THE NEKO CRAP OUT OF HIM...over and over and over again: First on the side of his face, then I just bashed him in the back of his head several times! I..I killed him! and im still happy i did! The girl "was" bleeding from --------! I had a phone and called 911! Thats why The petition is on my userpage!

But if its abother i will remove it!

  • I still dont know what ya mean when ya say "repeated Wikipedia content copies without attribution or following the proper guide."
  • I olny asked for enployment here once or twice!
  • That fake message board was a thing I found on some strange lonely wiki thing! The logo i thing was a black globe or something! I did not think it was illegal! I just throught since it was created on wikipedia then it was ok to use!
  • the logo thing was just a recamendation! they wanted a logo idea I gave then one!
    • So if ya think im doing anything on purpose im not! Sorry!--Kanpai!!! 16:21, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Major

I've fixed the "World Structure" issue you pointed out, and added information from Wikipedia on the manga series. However, I don't think I'll have the initiative to clean it up sufficiently, so now that instead of having 2 bad article messages, it has three (most notably "convertToAnime", the manga is significantly ahead in terms of the story compared to the anime, and I am not interested in adding anime story info little by little as the episodes air in Japan. The "plot differences between manga and anime" section is also just a best effort deal, it is likely that additional differences in the anime exist that contradicts the story section of the article).

Also, I gave up on figuring out the categorization structure of this site. I'll leave it to someone who knows the masterplan. As a suggestion, you might want to go through all the existing anime articles and tag them with bad article messages as appropriate. I was looking at around 10 different anime articles, starting with Chobits (since that's the only blue link in the GE Worlds page), all without the message, and all without following the World Structure, when trying to puzzle out what's wrong with Major's article. The "learning by reading examples" breaks down when unlabeled bad examples consist of the majority of the sample space. -PanSola 22:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

^_^ Most of the articles in this site are from before it was part of the WGEP. They are all horribly done and most need removal. There was supposed to be a collaborative project on tagging the ones which needed deletion due to unattributed out-of-date Wikipedianess... The absolute best copied article is Nanoha/Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and the best original article is Okusama wa Joshikousei/Okusama wa Joshikousei. Ones which have also been done are Saikano/Saikano and Negima/Negima!: Magister Negi Magi. Maybe I'll create a list of pages which are actually proper content. I'll convert the syntax on Major/Major into the proper formatting here. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 10:24 (UTC)
Oh ya... As for category structure... ^_^ Notice that the good normal pages such as anime pages, character pages, etc... Are All missing any sort of category tags... Yet they are categorized... That's because we're using a bit of an automatic system. Those infobox templates being put everywhere categorize everything. When Infobox/Animanga/Anime is put in, it becomes listed as a Anime Series. If you put in the Manga one, on the Mangapedia (In the future) it'll be categorized into a category there. Movie and OVA will do similar things. But that's not all. Genre (Which lists out the genre you input) Actually does more... It categorizes the page by genre also. Same with Networks, Serializers, Publishers, Voice Artists, etc... And some of them also output links if the page exists. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 10:51 (UTC)
So... what are the rationals for having "license" categories in normal case, while the genre categories in title case? I assume because they are auto-generated by the templates, that they are the "correct" categories, right? -PanSola 11:29, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
They're different? *Goes to Check* ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 11:31 (UTC)
Genre uses 2 words, the others use 4 words. In all of them the 2 active words are capitalized. ^_^ I just ask my brain what looks like the better name. And Anime licensed by VIZ Media, looks better than Anime Licensed By VIZ Media. Besides, VIZ Media, Sci-Fi, etc... can't have the first letter capitalized because they are userinput. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 11:42 (UTC)
That's like saying article names cannot follow capitalization conventions because they are user input. You do realize that if one user type "Sci-Fi" for one anime and the other user type "Sci-fi", and a third user type "scifi", they'd all end up in different categories right? You can't even fix it like how redirects can "fix" different article name variations (the only way to "fix" variations in category naming is to dump a switch in the template that attempts to catch all possible variations). Also there are be 3-word (and possibly more-word) genres. So is the convention gonna be "what the user typing it think looks better" or "what Dantman think looks better"? The Animepedia:What will happen?#Possible Conflictions made the naming policy looked like it's such a big deal (is "Confliction" even a word?), I'm surprised at the comparative "easy-goingness" on category naming. d-: -PanSola 12:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Renaming is always up for debate, but no-one else has been working on the stuff so I've had to come up with the names. There's already the issue of things like Shonen used instead of Shōnen which is why we have {{commonFix}}. It's more like, "What the total of the community thinks looks better". The total of the community used to be Me... But since you've been editing around here you can offer ideas on how to rename things. The thing about how I built systems, is that it's easy to rename things even over a few hundred pages. Because the actual definition is located on one. But tell me which looks better, Sci-Fi Anime, Sci-fi anime, or Sci-Fi anime? As for Conflictions being a word. That's a yes and no. If you look it up in the dictionary it's not there, but people use it in general conversation, and proper writing even though it's not dictionary defined. Sometimes the word "Conflicts" doesn't fit. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 12:46 (UTC)
What looks better may change with time, place, and culture, and is POV. I'd go with a "normal case" policy, which is relatively NPOV, and probably echos wikipedia's rationals (though I never kept track what rationals they used). So the renaming issue is, whether "Sci-Fi anime" or "Sci-fi anime" is proper normal capitalization, which is an academic question. I would argue since Sci-Fi is not technically an acronym nor used as a proper noun, the normal English form should be "Sci-fi anime".
Anyways, I don't think Northern California hears the word "confliction" in general conversation much, if at all. -PanSola 12:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll change Anime to anime... But I will not add a {{lc:{{{1|}}}}} to Licensors, Networks, etc... because company names are proper nouns. And Conflictions will be Conflicts since you're done with the link. New forum names will still be Title Case though. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 13:02 (UTC)
Characters who's gender is Male or Characters who's gender is male
Characters who's gender is Female Characters who's gender is female
Characters who's gender is Unknown Characters who's gender is unknown
~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 13:10 (UTC)

I never suggested using templates to change cases to lower case. I was arguing for an overall "normal case" policy, which means it should respect proper nouns (and all-caps names), and therefore using the lc template obviously would be something I oppose as well (there might theoretically be genres that contain proper nouns within them as well, so I would also not support a blanket use of the lc template on user-inputs into the genre template). Male/female/unknown would be lower case under the normal case rule. -PanSola 13:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

You're lucky that the genre categories go "Genre anime" and the other templates using company names go "Anime ... Company". If it went the other way, there would be no technical way of using sentence case. Because the user would input Sci-fi and not sci-fi then it would be "... Sci-fi" meaning the first letter can't be made lowercase to fit sentence case. ^_^ I'm also lucky that I haven't actually defined any category pages yet. Only category names. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 13:28 (UTC)
I don't care about changing things technically. We can change whatever the user inputs, so even if someone inputs "Sci-fi", we can change it to "sci-fi" manually, if the situation requires. Just like if a user typed "scifi" or "SCIFI" or "Science Fiction" or "psiense phiksion" we will have to change those one way or another in order for the article to be properly categorized. (-: -PanSola 13:34, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
That's not what I mean. The Genre category works like this: {{Genre|Genre 1|Genre 2|etc...}} the template then takes those genre and does 2 things with it. It turns each genre you inputed into part of a comma separated list, and uses that genre name to place the article in a genre category. It uses the same parameter, so we can't separate Display from Category. ^_^ But as for a user inputting Scifi or Sci-Fi... I'm going to add that to {{commonFix}}. Also we can have bots force those kind of things to. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 13:38 (UTC)

BTW, are you gonna change Forum:Help desk to title case, or keep it in normal case? I don't really care either, just idly wondering d-: -PanSola 14:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

T_T That's why I said new forums... If I changed Help desk to Help Desk, I'd half to move 2 pages, delete and create 1 category, and alter 3 pages plus the number of topics in the Help desk; On EVERY site in the WGEP. That amounts to over 30 edits just to move one forum T_T. I'm not changing that forum till I have the Forum setup bot complete. ~Dantman(talk) May 21, 2007 @ 14:30 (UTC)

[edit] IRC

Recoome gave me his e-mail --> dbz_recoome@hotmail.com; how do I chat with him on IRC instead of msn with it? Also, why didn't you respond earlier when I asked you a question on my talk page? Burdock

I'm afraid I'm lost here. Then how did you recieve a message from Recoome? MSN? I'm curious about what was discussed, did he reveal who Prince Zarbon was? Don't respond on my user talk page, k? Respond here; I don't want Recoome to become suspicious of this conversation and have this risk anything crazy to occur. Oh, I think I'm planning on leaving this Burdock account by the way and using the Sesshomaru one. Your thoughts on that? Remember, please respond to all on this talkpage. I'll be waiting right here. Thanks. Burdock
What makes you think that guy won't see the conversation here? -Afker 02:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
??? Why do you say that? Do you know Recoome? Burdock
I have no clue who you are, I have no clue who s/he is, but from what you said, Recoome knows Dantman. It shouldn't surprise anyone then if Recoome chances upon Dantman's talk page on Animepedia (here). -Afker 03:37, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Email:

Hey this is Recoome from Dragon Ball Wikia. Iv'e had emails informing me that user Zarbon had edited my user page and I noticed that he had been in a lot of trouble and banned, Some of the stuff he had been editing were his usual edits but there were some things that he would never do. Admitting that he was other users, making a fool out of himself and his signatures at the end were like this Zarbon on normal Wikipedia he would just do his signatureZarbon or User:Zarbon One other thing he was calling me buddy, old pal but I've been talking to him recently. Not to mention he normally just says mate. It also seems odd that this happens around the time that Power Level decided to have an argument with me on normal Wikia and would be just like him to be trying to get information out of me by pretending to be Zarbon. Zarbon never told me he was joining and would have told me if he was going to. If there is any way you can give me the IP of this Zarbon on DBW then I can verify if it is him or not. Thanks Recoome (Shane)
Now then... Can we ignore this whole thing... There is no point going after it, if he's a vandal, he'll vandalize something and be reverted and blocked, if not, let him continue contributing as a valuable editor like he has been. ~Dantman(talk) May 24, 2007 @ 09:20 (UTC)
Yes. I was just curious on whether Recoome was admitting to you that he was/knew the vandal. Ah, it's of no use then; I'll stop pursuing this case. And I think I want to leave this account, shamefully leave behind all my edits, and use Sesshomaru. Any thought or warning on that? Or, can this account be merged with the Sesshomaru one? Answer here again, please. Burdock
It's your account whatever you pick. But we can't rename you or change your edits right now. And there's only a small chance of being able to reassign your edits in the future. But you're sure you even want Sesshomaru? Both Burdock and Sesshomaru are non-unique names of characters in two series. If you're going to switch names it would best be finding a new nickname to call yourself instead of using a anime character's name. If you want the anime characters name after that, then you can just change your signature. But if you're switching to use the name of another anime character you're going to be doing that alot. ~Dantman(talk) May 26, 2007 @ 01:15 (UTC)
You may be right. I'll stay with Burdock for now then. My Wikipedia name is Sesshomaru anyways. Thanks for everything. Oh, can I ask for your age? I'm 21½. Burdock

[edit] World page

I looked for how to create a World page, for Kannazuki no Miko, but I couldn't really find anything. Can you help me? please Altesien 15:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm very sorry for messing up the KnM pages and for stressing you out. I still have alot to learn. I've been reading over every single help article looking at already created pages and stuff. When I'm done and I feel I'm ready I'll try again. Altesien 11:50, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm willing to bet that 60% of the first time contributors to animepedia adding a new series is gonna mess up the world page structure part. It's intrinsically built in to the system. Subpaging for mini-wikis is a good idea, but having too many structural requirements beyond that will inevitably introduce a learning curve that the average Joe will end up learning by trial and error. d-: -Afker 14:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
It'll be easier in the future. Firstly, a little tweaks and I can have a startup page where you enter an ID for a series and the article to help people figure it out. But really, when the technical systems are up, it will actually take a Sysop's help to add a new series. Cause you need to have it added to the GENetwork extension's table. So, most likely I'll organize it in more of a requests form. Kinda a way of emphasizing each World as it's own Wiki with it's own community, just like with a new wiki.
For reference on good articles, take a look through the ones in Animepedia:Proper articles.
Guess I can't fix the articles today. My Screen is f***ed up, and I can hardly use this computer. ~Dantman(talk) May 28, 2007 @ 21:38 (UTC)

[edit] Green background

How the heck did you get the background for your page to be green? Is it in Monobook or inside the userpage? Thanks. --Steinninn talk 09:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeb, I found it. But it's pretty much the same as what I got already had at Steinninn. I'm trying to get it all white. Looks like you managed to hide the Dantman title on top. Something I have no real use for, but I guess I have to if I want to hide all the lightblue background. --Steinninn talk 10:17, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm rely sorry to bother you again. But I don't think it's going to be a big problem. The thing is I stupedly tried to add one more "choose" script into my Monobook that I lovingly named status. And for a while it just didn't work, but now the other choose scripts are breaking down as well. Now it's probably just some small thing that I didn't think of, but if it's a big problem trying to fix it then I'll just revert everything. I'll leave it as it is for the weekend and then I'm not sure what I'll do on monday. --Steinninn talk 06:43, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Oh yea. I also noticed there is not much change it's going to see the difference form status and lang so I added a <!--1--> and <!--2--> but it didn't do any good. --Steinninn talk 06:47, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Heh heh....help.

Thanks for telling me it got accepted...but...how do I go about editing the Main Page, and whatnot? How do I add a background color, a proper logo, make templates, things like that?

[edit] Search box

Hello, I'm supergeeky1, an administrator on Darthipedia, the Star Wars Humor Wiki. We're brand new and trying to adapt our look from other wikis, a bit. That's when I came across this site. I was wondering if you would be able to help me with the search drop-box thing. I've gone through the monobook.css/js, common.css/js, and most of the other main MediaWiki pages, but I haven't had any luck in locating the source. Just basically all I'd need is the location to look for it and that would be it. Thank you very much! :D {{SUBST:User:Supergeeky1/signature}} 23:07, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Hmm, I did find the sources for it. However, it doesn't seem to be working. I don't know what else to do. Thanks. {{SUBST:User:Supergeeky1/signature}} 23:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
It's kinda messed up right now. What's currently here is a bad modification of the SearchSwitch, one of these days I need to get back to working on it. But other than the Searchswitch code you also need a MediaWiki:Namespaces.js and MediaWiki:Groups.js for your wiki. Just copy them and regenerate them for your wiki using the instructions on the page. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) Sep 7, 2007 @ 23:48 (UTC)

[edit] Wikia Customizations

I have left a response here.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 17:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

    • Thanks for agreeing to help, and asking others to lend a hand. If you have any CSS/JS entries you feel would be benefitial to the Wikia, you're welcome to try and integrate them. I'd also like to hear opinions on whether a category-based search engine can be created. Originally the Wikia was inspired by Netrep and since then, we've been looking at ways of artificially emulating what their API does for them. Ideally, it would be a searching system that would look for articles that include each category asked for.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 18:53, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SHAMANking

A question the shamaking wikia doesnt has the format that your wikia has, why? Well thanks!!! Envidia

[edit] Re:Chaos

Please do my friend. My apoligize, but with school, and fixing the inconsistency of Naruto Wiki, I haven't had much time for the Bleach Wiki I'm afraid.--TheUltimate3 01:02, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey; sorry for bugging you about this, but I thought you might have forgotten about us.Me just in and I have decided to widen our tasks on Pikipedia. So, we would really appreciate it if you would get us to adminship. I logged on here so I would be easier to identify (as if that weren't simple enough...). Again, sorry if I'm pushing you.--Prezintenden

[edit] new user

hi, just joined up. How do you want the editing of pages to be done? I'm interested in contributing some, but am not sure how to go about copying them from wikipedia. So...can I get a tutorial?-katie5000

  • Re: response on my talk page: Hm, lemme see if I can figure it out first. :)
  • >>>Of course, if you want... Since the wiki is Inactive I could always adopt it into the project, and help you set it up to nicely work in as a part of Wikia ACG You can do that? That'd be kind of cool. :) Katie5000 22:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Oh, btw, how do you upload an .svg file?? I was trying to make one of those little flag icons for the US and I can't even get the stupid image to load on the image page.
  • Re: Flag Icon: I got the pic from Wikipedia by clicking on a US flag icon and then right-clicking the resulting .svg image and saving it. I don't really know what to do with it now, to get it to show up...I uploaded it the regular way but it didn't really seem to work.Katie5000 02:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
  • New question: how do you edit categories...like, how do you put a page into a different category than the one it's in? On the "Robotech" world page, the stuff that's under "Other" should be under "Series".Katie5000 06:35, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Hey, um...since the SM wiki is pretty much inactive, could I just have it as my own wiki to work on? Actually, I'm not even sure you're in charge of that...but I don't really know who else to ask.Katie5000 21:11, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
  • ok, wait...I'm confused. So...you were going to adopt the SM wiki into this (meaning animepedia) project? Wait, wait, wait. But...how would that work? Isn't that an entirely seperate wiki created by someone else? Like, how could you incorporate it in here without the person who owns it getting totally mad? Oh, boy. I probably don't know what I'm talking about anymore.-_-Katie5000 00:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
  • >>>But basically, either one of us could adopt the Sailor Moon Wiki, and we would have it join Wikia ACG. Then we could improve it there and fix up all the old articles that are most likely in need of complete re-doing. And by joining the project we would have the Sync bots sync the project's templates over there, and that would allow us to use the same systems that we use here, over there. Oh, ok. That sounds cool. :D May I adopt the wiki and join it to the ACG then?
  • ok, so if a wiki has been adopted into the project, then editing it would work the same way that editing the regular animepedia would work, right? If the SM wiki's been adopted, then I'll go ahead and start fixing it up. :) Katie5000 05:26, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
  • kk, 'nother question: to get individual character pages to show up under the "Characters" heading on the World Page, what do you do, type in "WorldName/characters/whoever"? You've probably mentioned it somewhere, and I've overlooked it. ^^;Katie5000 19:19, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Re: Wikia ACG: sure, I don't mind helping a bit. I just hope I know enough to help properly. BTW, I made AnimeSysop (or whoever it was ^^;) into an admin on the SM Wiki. :) Katie5000 21:16, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
  • How do you upload svg images of flags properly? Furthermore, how do you get them to show up as icons using the {{flags|}} template?Katie5000 22:24, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Hm, ok. Why is it that when I upload an .svg file of a flag, the image doesn't show up? What am I doing wrong? *question mark face* Katie5000 22:59, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Re: Flags: I found another US flag on here that had been uploaded successfully as "Flag_of_America", which is why I used "America" and not "USA" or something else. If I could get my flag to upload right, I would use "United States", as I am well aware that no one likes to hear the US referred to as "America". Katie5000 03:32, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
  • I'm thinking about starting to do some character pages, and I was wondering if there is a general character info template, like how there's a general series info template. If there is, I can't find it. :(
